youth day birds
« on: Apr 28, 2013, 11:52:34 AM »
To my niece out for her first hunt ever, we got there early to find that the full moon made it hard to get where i wanted to be with her.  So we setup 100 yards away, they were going nuts in the trees and that got her excited.  When they come down the hen made it hard to pull the toms away but we got 2 to come down to us. she shot and missed them. Told her we would find another group and try again, .5 hour later we set up in the woods with some birds just over a ridge, 1.5 hours of calling and waiting two hens came up looking with two Jake's fallowing. Told her it was up to her and if she wanted she could shot when ready. 2 Jake's with 1 20ga round.

Great Job! I love to see the kids getting into the action. I brought out my friends boy but no luck. We had some coming but something spooked them and they headed in the wrong direction. I told him no worries there was a lot of season left to hunt.

Thank for all the great comments, I'm going to let her read this Friday night.  She has asked to go with me this weekend she loved seeing the birds and can't wait till next years hunt.
