Sighting in error
« on: Sep 27, 2012, 06:23:24 PM »
Well, went to sight in my model seven, you have to remember that this is a used firearm. Now for my error. Never checked the scope and mounts for tightness. Shot a box of federal fusions with fair accuracy, then came a box of remington core locs. first 3 shots were 4 inches left..and the tale goes on, very frustrated thinking I was shooting to fast and heating the barrel. Then I grabbed the scope and fore end of the rifle at the same time, guess what, LOOSE...pulled the scope off, took out the screws, applied lock tite, replaced the screws, remounted the scope, within 3 shots had it zeroed and as it was getting dark shot a quarter size group. So, just a FYI, Check your screws....

For a while I thought I may have bought a pig in a poke, glad it wasnt so..great gun to shoot, now to just tune it in a bit more...I will try some other brands of bullets if I can lay my hands on some for a decent price. I do like the core lokt though, with a bit more time and practice the groups will tighten i am sure.

Model 7?     No way!   I've been looking for a youth model in 260rem for 5 years now locally.  But now my kids have outgrown a youth/bantum.

AA, as your kids get old enough, that would be the one for them.. ;)  Topped with a Leupold 1-4.  ;D

actually have been looking at .260's for that reason funny you say that. I personally don't like .243 for a deer round and a long cased 25/06 round is to much where I live.
