Illinois
« on: Nov 21, 2013, 10:46:43 PM »
Well, I start my vacation tomorrow, just happens that the mother in-law is from Illinois and we are headed there for thanksgiving, going to be doing a little archery hunting while there. Going to be tough mostly hunting public land right after their first gun season, but ill remain optimistic. If anything that looks 3y/o or older comes within range, its getting and arrow. If a 2y/o with massive head gear comes through...you better believe it, tag isn't cheap haha I will be sitting mostly on the ground with my Hoyt hoping to get some video, only have 5 days to hunt and I have a feeling I will be catching some flack if I spend too much time in the woods which I understand but I am paying for the tag...anyway hopefully I will get myself a P&Y...WISH ME LUCK!

Sounds good, was going to look around today at the ice, how is the king shaping up and where are you headed?

Your back Jon ; How was your trip

pretty uneventful, the state land I had planned to hunt was blocked off and could not use it anymore, got 40acres of private where they have hardly seen a buck this year although I saw plenty of sign. saw only a couple deer while I hunted, shot a doe that the shot seemed great, went back the next morning found good blood and tracked a long way to find nothing, even looked the next day and found nothing. Saw two bucks while in the car both were boone and crocket, and the last 5 minutes of my last hunt I had a doe coming perfect while I was behind a small cedar on the ground drawn back and she only needed a few more steps and the wind switched and she took off...lot of dough for tag soup haha oh well, other than that it was nice to relax and meet some family on the inlaws side along with being in a new area of the US was nice
