Hunting for pheasants at Yellowtail is almost exclusivly for planted birds. But some can surprise you. I took this rooster today. The tail feathers are right around 27 inches. The spurs are nothing special at all. I plan to have it mounted. But I also would like to enter it in the longest tail feather contest. The taxidermist says he can replace the feather with either the removed one or another one. I have a bit of time to think about it.

Awesome Bird. Got to be a wild bird with a tail like that. I like the shotgun used to have one just like it, it was my first shotgun. wish I still had it.

What a great ringneck! Don't see many that long nowadays anymore. Congrats!
-
Sweat bird! I haven't seen a bird like that in NY in almost 20 years.

Nice Larry, I dont think I have ever seen one with a tail feather that long. I'm one for one on pheasants and 4 and 0 on geese.
-
Nice pheasant, congrats.
Don't see many that long nowadays anymore. Congrats!
I'm lucky if I even see one down here. Only seen 5 in the wild in my life.

I got my mount back from the taxidermist. It came out very good. And the 27" tailfeather won me a brand new 20ga O/U.
