This Spring is looking very promising here in WNY. The weather is cooperating, too.
I have been hiking all over the hills around here and finally found a few roost sites.
That's exactly what I was looking for!
Hey Bobman- You wanna try a double?
-
I'm willing to try anything once ;) ;D. Let me know the time and place!
-
i love turkey but disagree on the good weather the warmer it is sooner the sooner they will be mateing and the sooner they will be done but the first week will be great i usually have both my birds by then anyway hopefully the streak continuesim trying a new spot this year but as long as i can roost em i can kill em if ill be in for alot of walking and calling
-
Hey Arch-
Remember I said I got a permit for the E side of Letchworth?
That's what the lady on the phone told me.
The actual piece of paper came today, and it's for the West!
I'm psyched!!!
Screw trout fishing. I'm going after the damn birds.
I know where they live, and I know where they will die.
-
lol hurry up and nail em then come back to the streams we will be waiting for ya good luck hopefully im tagged out the first week
-
turks are hitting the feilds pretty good now. have been seeing them on a constant basis. the flocks in my area seem to be pretty healthy. looks good for a productive season here in western,ny ;D
-
no turkeys that was me and my red head lol
-
you do like to gobble ;D
-
well just scout me out a good spot and ill be there on the 1st lol
-
no need to scout. birds are always there. never run out of property to hunt when there is 900acres to run around on. besides i have been hunting the same spot for 20yrs and i get one just about every year.
-
well one of these days ill have to come up and wander around
-
just let me know when you want to and we can take a stroll around b-4 opening day.we can hunt both sides of the road and then some.
-
sounds good maybe one day when you get home from work for a couple hours after the derby
-
we will need to do it soon. the season starts the following sunday after the derby. i normally get home around 4:30- 5pm during the week and there is alot of property to scout. hopefully they are using the same areas for feeding and dusting that i know of. if so this will make it very easy for us. ;D
-
yeah we have light until 730-8
-
let me know what day is good and you can meet me at my house when i get home from work.
-
ill be there already i just wont sneak out the back door when you get home ;D
Gooooooooo TEAM lol
-
i'll make sure to keep the daughter at the mother in-laws that day. lol
-
why are we scouting the dump ??? ;)
-
we only need about 2hrs total.so let me know.
-
sounds good to me but youll have to dig up your mother in law from the dump to babysit lol
are there good oak trees up there ive only been to the other side of the hill (state land side)
-
im gonna take you to the farm that i hunt. we will be no where near the state land. besides i won't need the mother in-law to baby sit. the wife picks them up after she gets out of work. this is a pretty good set up and i also have access to the property that borders the farm. the one property is the hunting club that i am a member of and the guy on the other side is a close freind to the family and have been hunting that property also for many yrs.
-
should we go talk to him to ask permission for me? and if we are going to a farm i dont want my face cut open lol watch out flying patty
-
charlie will be ok with it as long as you are with me. i will introduce you to him if he is there. this is his dads old farm and he runs his grain buisness out of it only. the mom is still around but she is very old and does not remember anybody anymore. he has his own place off trollbridge rd on 16 going towards olean. that is another big farm. he said i can hunt there also but i like this place better. not as much preasure.
-
cool i just dont want to step on toes or intrude
-
no intruding or stepping on toes. ouch that hurt, watch were you are stepping ;)
-
After work I stopped at the Park to check on my turkeys. They all say HI!
I also found some bear tracks. I hope she doesn't pick the same tree as me on May 1st!
8)
-
just bring some honey and the bear will leave you alone ;)
-
is that why your taking me ;D
-
yeah. i figured we would tie you up around the tree, pull down your pants and put some honey on your arse. :o maybe thats how they bait bears ;)
-
as long as they dont have a rough tounge or a 5 oclock shadow thats rough :o
-
i heard there nails on there paws are real bad also. they scrap your bum like its a honey jar ;)
-
thats another thing i like to do turkey hunting scouting to see if bears are in the area (so i can get that scratch i cant reach) i love bear hunting but gobblers first
