Sicily 1952
« on: Feb 26, 2013, 09:28:27 AM »
This is a picture of one of my Great Uncles and his "hunting" buddies.  It was taken in 1952 in the town where my father was born in Sicily.  My Mother told me that they never really hunted, but always seemed to be carrying around those shotguns!  I just thought it was a cool old picture.

Boom, Done!

Grazie RaquetteDacker, mi sorprendi! Direi che sono italiano ha fatto, ma non č uno dei marchi pių famosi.

Sorry, I've got to admit, I cheated with Google Translate.  I understand and speak a little Italian, but not much of the written word.

I wonder how many PIasanos are on MHF?

We are all connected!

Looney and RD....Do you know what part of Italy your family was from?    Mine was from a Small town on the edge of Mt Etna.  (active volcano).  The building behind those hunters is made of lava rock.

RaquetteDacker , have you ever done any family research?  You may be surprised how easy it can be to trace your family tree.

I have been to Italy and Sicily three times.  It is a wonderful place and their outlook on life and FOOD is so different than here.  I'm lucky to have family there and that makes all the difference.  I'd love to either hunt or fish on my next rip, but we'll see, no one in my family does any of that, that I know of.

I can not confirm any of this because my parents have passed but our original last name was Sparacino shortened to Spara now and we were from Caltagirone Sicily.....
