The pattern is a skin on top of the liquid, like soup on the stove you haven't stirred.  When you dip the item into the liquid, it clings to the item as it is submerged, and effectively wraps around it when it goes under the surface.

Got one done like that too this yr it looks awesome. The guy my taxidermist went through is out of gloversville he will literally camo dip anything you can think of. Relatively cheap too.
