I love fishers.  They are the only animal known to successfully kill and eat porcupines which are the most destructive rodents God created.  I used to have a great big fisher working around my hunting camp and was thrilled whenever I saw evidence of his work: a pile of quills and 4 paws on the ground.  Those porkys will eat anything, plywood, tires, radiator hoses, aluminum, implement handles, tractor steering wheels and they have no known enemies except fishers and me.

I've got a bunch of them. I wouldn't kill one either. I've seen them on stand a few times, pretty cool to watch them working.

Fischer can only be trapped in NY, no hunting for them. I see them once in a while; one came running up after I did some turkey calls a few Springs ago.
Its always archery season. >>>---------->

You can do either down here. Although I have never seen one in real life.

Out here cougars eat a lot of the porkys too but fishers are cool! I wish we had more of them here around my place.

When I used to hunt up in North Yarmouth I saw one 2 years in a row...same spot.  As it was wallkig it was making some very gnarly sounds...maybe it was PO that I was in his territory.

Cool pictures...     Most likely the same one...   Pretty sure they are solitary animals..

A funny thing my dad has seen that fisher cat all season in his stand but no deer.
Dad moved his stand about 1/4 mile across the hill 75yrd from my stand and guess what the fisher is right there we both saw it Sat morning but no deer I think it's following him. I always see at least a doe I think I'll take his stand down and tell him to start trapping instead of deer hunting.
