man, I want to go brookie fishing.... I could hike back to a remote pond today but... idk, could do the same thing for laker too, no bait, could flip spoons i suppose

Raq, thumbs up on the 18". Back in the 60's I caught an 18' in a pond at a club that I belonged to in Herkimer County in the Town of Ohio it weighed 3 1/2 #'s and I caught a real skinny 21" in Hinkley Reservoir around the same time. I have a 24" 6# Brookie mounted that I caught in Labrador.Six of us flew out of Goose Bay to a place called Crooks Lake Lodge and all that was there were Brookies and Northerns. It was al good sized lake and ours was the only camp on it.A pretty good size river ran out of the lake and that's where we fished most of the time. We had to use barbless hooks and we were only allowed to bring one fish home.We ended up bringing five 6 # Brookies home.As you can imagine it was a great trip.I think that an 18"Brookie in NY is every bit the equal of anything we caught.
