fish/hunt4ever:
Finally made it to the mountain and cut some trails out to better access some areas and help the wildlife movement. Seen the forest service marking some new timber sales, nice to see the activity before just fighting the forest fires, wish they would open some of the roads back up and stop closing things down so much. They talked about some new ATV trails that would be nice to spread people out as well. Seen the forest service on one closed road good thing the wife stayed at the truck and could move it for them so they could get out from behind the gate, or they could have gone back around and down the other road they closed, oh wait that one they tore out boulders and such to close that side of the road. Seen a bull elk and some deer nice to be seeing animals again.

Green Mountian Hunter:
How is the Elk & the Mule Deer population

fish/hunt4ever:
On that bull that we seen that day around a 300 class bull, been forgetting to get on and post for the last bit. The elk population had been great for the last few years, but you have to stay in the areas away from the wolves, the bears are bad in some places, just widh they would get the season going for them to.put the fear of humans back into them. The mule deer are coming back but it depends on the area for how well they are doing and what you can find around for bucks, the whitetail population seems to be doing good for the most part around where I am at and hunt but they are expanding more with the decline in mule deer but hopefully the mule deer will rebound with some habitat projects they are working on and some burning of sage brush communities that are too tall and overgrown to let feed grow or animals in, and some clear cutting of the forests will help.

Good stuff! Thanks for the update.
