I shot 50 rounds of .40 cal through my Sig 229 on Sunday. The rounds I hand loaded with cast lead bullets. Well after 50 rounds I checked my barrel for leading and it was coated! I used a 50:50 solution of White vinegar and Hydrogen Peroxide. I plugged one end of the barrel up and filled it and let it soak for 20 min. I did this 3 times, using a brass brush in-between soaks and the barrel looks like new. I will try pan lubing my bullets with a lube I made up for my .50 cal muzzleloader bullets (beeswax, lard, and olive oil. There is also a product made by Lee called Allox which is easier and less messy to apply.
