I wish NY would open anafenoon hunt.....

PA's season is April 30 till May 31....until noon....new this year is from May 16-31, you can hunt all day....since our season starts so late, it may be crazy hot out there after noon in the latter half of May... ??? Im happy they extended it, but dont see myself putting up with the gnats and black flies during the hottest part of the day...hopefully the weather will cooperate

 i have mixed emotions on all day turkey hunting. the birds see enough pressure from daylight till noon and i think the added pressure and over harvest of male birds would disturb their breeding to the point that it would impact the population and overall health and pecking order of the flock. at least in my area anyway.  its also a blessing to b forced out of the turkey woods at noon or spring chores would never get done.
but.... it would b nice to b able to have a little more time after work to get some hunting in but w that every other hunter has that opportunity as well.
mayb the split season is the answer as most (not all) of the breeding will have been completed. idk iv heard more talk of it in the past few years than i ever have so im sure it will become more of a debate in the near future.

I don't really like the idea of afternoon turkey hunting, it's not supposed to be easy. Traditionally spring turkey hunting has been about setting up and calling toms in, taking advantage of their breeding season. You can ambush them on the way to the roost any time of year. ;)

Its always archery season. >>>---------->

With my success rate I need all the help I can get.lol I will say though if I shoot one before I can hunt all day. I wont even try hunting afternoons to fill the second tag.

I killed 3 last year but have never killed all 5 that are allowed. And dont need a lot of freezer space because we eat those turkeys up pretty quick!

Hope to get my first gobbler this season. Its my fifth season and only one jake under my belt. I can say I knew nothing about turkey hunting before I started and had to learn on my own for the most part.
