Had off Fri. and wanted to ice-fish, but didn't feel like driving three hrs. Went grouse hunting near the new Cabelas. (Hamburg). Flushed one bird at close range, and was fortunate to fringe her with the improved barrel of my Franchi 20 ga. Though it was a clean kill, it took me some time to locate her as the bird was lying brown side up in the leaves, and was closer than I thought (18 paces!). Went to Cabelas afterwords, and stopped by my brothers to show him my trophy. Will be cooking shortly, grouse wrapped in bacon and basted with an orange sauce. mmmmmm...
