Turkey contest???

How about a michigan turkey contest this year??? It will start on Opening day of the 1st michigan season and end somewhere around the last day of last season + a few grace days to get late entries in............
 
Entries must have a pic of you with the bird, pic of the beard and spur length, and weight of turkey.  Length of beard+ length of spurs+weight will be your total in points... 

For example:  Bird has a 10 inch beard, 1 inch spurs and weighs 22 pds....

10+1+22= 33 total points... The one with the highest amount of points wins......  What does everyone think??  Also would anyone be willing to donate prizes for 1st, 2nd and third place?? Calls, fan mounts..... etc etc etc..............  Id be willing to donate a slate call or two.....  and could possibly talk to some guys i know personally that might be willing to donate a couple box/slate/mouth calls.

Are you scared to include people from other states on this site? If not you may have a better chance of starting a contest. This will be my thrid spring season on the site and have yet to see a contest. People always talk about it but it never happens. I would be happy to jump in and help out if need be. I think it would be a great idea and zap a little life into the site. We did not even have a 2008-2009 deer contest it still says 2007 contest on the opening site page.

Dont look like we're getting much interest from michigan members........  If we can make this worth our time then yea why not.......  Open Contest for anybody in ANY state.

Only allowed to enter 1 (one) turkey the whole year tho.

How would you verify weight?   Can't always rely on guys being honest...

what if you use a digital fish scale? and take a picture of the scale readout with the turkey?

I'm in.On another site were doing it by measuring the length of both spurs and the length of the beard then add it up and you get a score.Pics are included for verification of course.Would be great to see a contest around here livin it up a little.

Heres the rules from the other contest.
Measure beard or beards (Picture(s) required).
Measure both Spurs (Pictures required).
Add the 3 measurements together, that is your score.
Example...Beard is 7.5 inches, Rt spur is 7/8" and the Lt spur is 3/4".
7.50 + 0.875 + 0.750 = 9.125" Your score is 9125

yup sorry.... I was thinkin both spurs......... Not just 1 spur, just didnt clarify myself very well. Another way to take weight is to stand on a scale yourself.... I weigh 160 pds.  Now i get on with my bird and im 183, do the simple math, your turkey weighs 23 pds.  Any way you can prove the weight of your turkey will work.

How about prizes........  Lets get some ideas on what prizes and some volunteers to donate some stuff.
