First VT Bird in the freezer
« on: May 01, 2006, 01:10:23 PM »
Had a good morning.  Hiked the same loop as opening day last year and almost in the same area one started gobbling.  Someone else was hunting the area so I listened for calling and didn't hear anything.  I yelped and the bird started coming in.  He didn't wait long before he was at 23 yards.  I let him have two ounces of Federal premium.

He was 18 1/2 pounds dressed, 8 1/2 inch beard and 3/4 inch spurs.
