You will get countless different answers to this but I will start....... I personally love my 100 gr. G5 strikers tough as nails, surgical sharp, and fly like a dream.

I've been shooting G5 Montacs, they've worked great and are very durable. I sharpen mine with a 600/1200 grit diamond stone and have taken multiple deer with the same heads.

Watch the G5 sharpening video to see how easy it is. You can save a lot of money in the long run resharpening. I got a pack of Montac CS last year, they sharpen much faster.

In general, I'd go with mechanical over fixed blades. They flight straighter when your bow isn't prefectly tuned. The wings on a muzzy will pull your arrow 3 feet off on a 30 yard shot if everything's not aligned perfectly. Since it sounds like you're new to bowhunting, which I still basically am too, I'd go with mechanicals.

wow, thats a little extreme. the bow you saw do this must have been run over by a truck. a bow will never actually be "perfectly tuned" and anyone who has shot long enough knows that. ive shot tournys where you cant adfjust your bow and it rained in the a.m. but the sun came out around noon. to keep my bow "in tune" for the weather and the day i had to drag my bow string back and fourth in the wet grass to keep the same point of impact. otherwise i was high and to the left.  ide look further if you or someone you know got that erratic arrow flight. i can eye ball a bow in about 1 minute and see if its out of wack. all i need is one straigh arrow and a sharpie
