I had a relative who is long gone now but he used to make turtle soup. It was awesome do not know the recipe though.

Like fishnboots said will work.  There is also traps that you can make, kinda like a big minnow trap but allows the turtle to get in.  You set them up near
shore so that the turtle will be able to stick his head up and breath.  I use the trusted method of heavy black cord to a heavy wire leader with a large
treble hook, and a hunk of chicken thigh or what ever.  I usually tie offr to a branch and toss it in the pond and then check it in a few hours.I'll set up
three or four down in the pond and get one on every line I set.  I've caught them in as little as 5 or 10 minutes.  Once caught I pull on the wire leader
to get the head to come out and then using a very sharp spade shovel or machete I chop the head off.  I like mine lightly battere and then fried.  Then
again what isn't good battered and fried.
