Here in NY the season opens a month from today.
Start scouting and practice your calls!

If you don't like hunting turkeys in the fall you haven't tried it...

BuckShotJon:
Typically I hunt turkeys by chance in the fall when I am bow hunting.

I do reserve at least a day to break out the gun and hunt them.

It seems to never fail that the day I hunt with the gun a really nice buck crosses path with me.

Fall birds are fun to hunt especially if you can find a vocal flock.

Hey Jon- Have you ever taken a turkey with a bow?
That would be an incredible challenge for me.
Maybe someday  8)

Bobman:
I'm like BSJ, I usually run across fall turkey while grouse hunting.  Find a flock, bust 'em then call 'em back!  If I don't find turkey sign then I keep grouse hunting.

I don't bow hunt, but my cousin does and has taken many turkey with his bow.  Usually a flock will come by his tree stand and he'll whack one.  He also carries small game points while deer hunting.  If deer hunting is slow he'll pop squirrels and has even bagged a couple of grouse from his tree stand.

Anyone here in NY get out today?
I'm going to my "camp" tomorrow, which is actually just a friend's trailer. The weather is supposed to be horrific, but that's ok. I will be there until I find them.
Unfortunately the wind will fark up all my scouting, but I'm confident.
I think you have to be...
