September bulls in the County.

Went up to District 2 (Aroostook County) to help out a friend who was guiding some folks with a Bull Permit for the September hunt. Nasty weather the first two days (rain, wind and cold) but things improved a heap by Wednesday.

Lots of moose hunters out and big moose ending up on trailers.

Pretty impressive numbers of large bulls. Quigley's in Ft Kent had 133 tagged by Thursday noon with 11 over 1,000 lbs. The tagging station in Ashland had 225 tagged by Friday 11 AM with 4 over 1,000 lbs. Monday at Ashland almost every bull was over 800 and Tuesday most every one was 900 plus. The folks I was helping out chased a great big thrasher for three days with no shot opportunities (although the guide got charged once!). They ended up taking a decent freezer filler (700+/-) on Friday though.

Here's Quigley's link for updates and some great pictures.
