2013 Buck

I shot my buck on Monday. I was sitting at 5:30am and it poured until 8. At 8:08 a doe with twins came in and fed away. 15 minutes later the buck I shot burned through hot on their trail offering no shot. He started chasing the doe around and eventually separated her from her fawns. About 40 minutes later he came into me and offered a 40 yard broadside shot. I double lunged him but put him down with a second shot at 20 yards. Now I am ready for a short muzzleloader season and some fishing!

I had to work all day Saturday but I took my girlfriend out Sunday morning. This buck came in behind us chasing a doe. I watched him work her away from us for a few moments but she wasn't able to get on him with a good shot. I had several encounters with this buck during bow season and he has hung close to home pretty much every day since September. I think I could have waited on him to let her shoot but with the rut on he would have started to venture out.
