Trapping with a friend(update) The big one was 63lbs
« on: Dec 05, 2011, 02:36:13 PM »
I spent the day on my buddys trapline today. I think I have a new addiction. We had a great day, the weather was perfect. We ended up with 4 beaver and a rat. Two of the beaver were over 50 lbs one may be 60lbs(he is going to weigh it when he gets home and let me know). Here are a few pics from the day.

my buddy is 6'1 and about 220lbs. This is one of the two that were over 50lbs

Those are good'ens!!! Was a day when a blanket like that would pay 150.00 plus....Remember my dad talking about what they made on the trap line in the30's and 40's....My dad bought a new rifle with one blanket....my uncle would make enough every year to go fishing in Canada for a week....Just doesn't seem fair today that so much work for so little money....

He has 21 on his garage floor to be scun flushed and streched as well as a few fisher and 2 or 3 otter. That is truely the work part of trapping. He takes 2 weeks vacation the first 2 weeks of the season. Im going to sighn up for my safty course next spring... Cannot wait... Something I can do on Sundays and before work.. He said the 60 may be his biggest yet. Still waiting for an actual weight from him.

I here you there... Remember in the mid 80's and early 90's when a jumbo coon would get 60+ bucks. We would climb trees for them. 5 or 6 years ago i threw 3 seasons worth on the dump all but throwing up. Could not find anyone to take the darn things for free. I hear the market is better now and my trapping buddy will take all we get.

Be prepared cause u will have more than sundays and after work into it! I wouldnt trade my trapping for nothing but you would be better looking at it as a second job! ;D
