Checking out the trail cam again (update 5)
« on: Jul 22, 2010, 12:22:41 AM »
Went back to the camera tonight to check it out. Found that the battery had gone dead. All was not at lost though I replaced the battery and did a little scouting. We seen a bull moose, 2 cows and a calf moose and 2 whitetail deer. This is one of the deer.

Also one day that we were fishing we saw these animals.

Hope to get more trail cam pics soon.

Thats his blind Raquette..LOL
What it must be like to see moose in the wild. I've seen a few here, but all along the road. Did have one go through my back yard
about 10 years ago. Saw some real big tracks this spring Turkey hunting. Nice pictures Bill!!

As much as I like seeing the wolves I hope I don't see any around that area.

Went back to the camera again tonight. Got a pic of a smaller bull, probably won't get any bigger that a 5x5. He bedded by the camera for about an hour.

Went back tonight to check the trail cam. This is what we got.

Did a little scouting as well and found this game trail.

On the way back out of the woods we saw this nice specimen.

Back at the camera again. I'm not sure if this moose is an immy or not. It looks like it has 3 points on one side but I'm not sure how many on the right.

Don't try this at home!
On the way back home I seen this cow and decided to call to it. After a bit she decided to go back to eating then I got out of the truck and pretended to start eating like a moose. She looked and then went back to eating herself. I then found an old hip bone and pretended to be a bull moose and started to wall closer to her, zig zagging back and forth across the road and pretending to eat. I was surprised on how close I got as you can see. It could have been an easy bow shot.

Back at the camera again tonight. The elk are out of their velvet. So does the rut start any time soon I guess?

Couple of young whitetail fawns.

More great shots Bill.
I watched a video from the Elk foundation, they stated the rut to start in first week of September, so seems to reason they lose their velvet in late August.
Would be great to have all those species to hunt here in the Adirondacks....

Last of my trail cam pics in this spot.
Cow and a calf elk.

Spike bull

I think this is the biggest elk in this spot.

I will be going up North tomorrow for 10 ten days and hunting elk, moose and deer. I will be putting up my trail cam as well so I might be getting more pics also. I will post my trip too, see ya when I get back.
