Scrape/rub question
« on: Oct 15, 2014, 06:43:24 AM »
On our property there is already significant buck sign, aggressive rubbing and some scrapes, and my question to everyone is which would be more productive to hunt this weekend, the rub line or scrapes? Thanks

I'd hunt the scrapes.

Neither will consistently get you on a buck and often if you are too close you leave scent which adversely impacts them more than you think because they come in after hours and smell you and either vacate or avoid the area until darkness.  The best way to hunt them is to try to figure out where they are coming from, in the AM it might be fields in the PM most likely a bedding zone and try to get 1/2 to 3/4 closer to those areas.  trick is to not infringe on those zones as you wont be able to access  without being noticed but if you are in between the zones you have a great chance of intercepting the bucks without causing to much impact.

Good luck
