on or off stretcher?

Is it better to leave a fur on or off a wooden stretcher after drying and before tanning or selling?

I always take my furs off the stretcher and stack them usually if I have a bunch I run wire through the nose or eye holes for transport

We would take them off, wrap them in a garbage bag and freeze them.  Keeps them safe from rodents too.
