Well i had caught one in a mouse trap on accident at my hunting camp in the catskill mountains in ny which is about 2 and a half hours south west of where i caught this guy.  I had also seen one about 5 miles from where i caught this one probably 7 or 8 years ago while turkey hunting with my dad. Those are the only two i have ever seen in my life. I graduated from college in Dec. and dont start work until march so ive been going out of my mind trying to find things to do to pass the time. Went online looking at hunting/fishing stuff and stumbled on a forum talkin about weasel boxes. the next day i went in the basement and found enough scraps to put together 4 weasel boxes. the following day i went out and set them with rat traps and baited with the bases of turkey tails i had in the freezer and freezer burnt venison. After 3 days of catching only shrews and mice i finally got my lenons all call weasel lure in the mail. put that on my traps yesterday afternoon and this morning there she was.

It was nestled in under a hemlock right on the edge of where a hemlock stand meets a swamp and about 35 yards from a large stream.

I believe an ermine is simply a weasel in their white winter phase... a weasel is a weasel is a weasel
