Went out for ducks and pheasants but only found fish.  I don't have a dog so I carry a fishing pole with me when I hunt for waterfowl so I can cast out and snag them if they are too deep or far away to hand retrieve.  All the ducks we saw either jumped up before we were in range or flew over just a little too high to safely shoot at.  We made up for it with a little small stream fishing.  Picked up a couple of nice browns with the kids.  Like a good dad, I hooked them and let the kids reel them in.

Natalie and her trout.

Matthew and his brown trout.  He is watching some ducks fly by just as the photo is being shot.  He started yelling ducks right after the picture was taken.

I love taking kids in the outdoors!

Take a kid into the outdoors today and they will return the favor later in life!

Did a little bird hunting this morning, ended up shooting a limit. Got out and ran the maiden voyage on the boat blind, I was a little nervous it would stick out like a sore thumb, but you cant argue with results like these!

A mixed bag of brown, 3 gadwall, 2 hen mallard, 1 hen pintail, and 1 green wing teal round out the limit, was a good morning, should have shot better, but eh...The prize of the morning, a plumed out Drake gadwall!! This was A first for me.

Hope to see some pics of big game on here pretty soon! Good luck everyone!
