It was time to check the cams this afternoon. Had a couple deer on the one by the rubs, one might be a small buck; left the cam since it is cooling down this weekend and they may move more.

The camera on the second pile of deer scraps had 1600+ pics on it; lots of crows, the foxes and redtail made regular appearances, and a couple coyote pics but they didn't stay long.

First animal was a yote but the foxes showed up soon after.

Red fox:

Another yote:

Pulled the cam after a couple nights set on video, still getting the foxes; no hawk though, only a squirrel during the day. I think video may be the way to go, especially for night time: didn't get the flash washout and not blurry like a lot of the IR pics are.

Grabbed a camera yesterday while out riding in the snow; second one is higher up the mountain and I will need to snowshoe up to get it. Have been trying to get pics of the buck that made some big rubs, haven't gotten any on the lower cam, second one is near a big cluster of rubs so I think it is near his bed/core. I'll put this cam back on a heavily used trail in the snow next, easy to find where they are travelling now.

Deer definitely notice the camera when the IR flash goes off, had the cam hidden under the branches of a small hemlock.

One decent buck that I didn't know about, should be a good 3 year old next year; he turned right around.

This doe noticed the cam but it didn't seem to bother her as she fed for a few minutes.

One last doe, maybe the same one, up feeding before the big snowstorm; she looks healthy.

Good looking pics. Bucks are definitely more likely to have negative responses to cameras. Don't know why but some bucks I will only see on a camera once and then they avoid it, others get used to them. Having the camera high facing down did seem to help some for me with the bucks.

Can't believe the snow has gone down so much, I was able to drive my ATV all the way up to the one camera that was still out.

Got a few pics back in late Dec, but not much since it snowed; there were plenty of tracks around. ::)

First buck(not sure if the is the 7 from later or the 6 from the other cam):

Big doe:

Nice 7 pointer I didn't know about; I can't believe he is responsible for all the big rubs, but maybe :-\ :

Gonna take advantage of the weather and get both cameras out tomorrow. Both are still showing full charge on the batteries; cold doesn't seem to bother them, got some pictures(no animals though) at -14F according to the built in thermometer.
