H&R Ultra in .270 shooting Winchester Supreme ballistic tips. Does the job nicely. I had this gun handed down to me from my father when I turned 21 and have carried it for nearly 19 years. Not only is this a nicely made gun but its real pretty too!

90% of my hunting is done with my
Remington 742-BDL  in 30-06 shooting 180 grain bullets. We've been together for 29 years now.
The rest is done with a Ruger .44 carbine shooting 180 grain hollow points,
Mossberg 500 12 ga. with copper solids,
or my OLD Onieda Screaming Eagle bow.

TR19Dad shoots a Remington 740 30-06 with 180 grain bullets or a Remington 870 Express 12 ga.

TR19jr is shooting a Remington Model 7 in 7mm-08 & 140 grain bullets.

I see a serious Remington devotion issue here.......

Mainly us my T/C Encore for everything. 300 win mag barrel for deer, 223 barrel for coyotes, 12 ga turkey barrel, and 50 cal muzzle loader. Rugar 44 mag carbine for deer and bear. All are topped off with a 3.5 x 10 Weaver Grand slam. Best scope for the money in my opinion. At least until they realised they had a great scope and jacked the price up. Rugar 10/22 for small game. A 870 12 ga pump that my father bought me many years ago, that has taken just about every animal out there.  Now looking for a AR in 223 for coyotes. Purchased a night scope to mount on it last season. I mainly use the T/C 223 for day time hunts.

Weatherby Vanguard sporter SS 22-250 rem, topped with a Weaver 3-10X40 scope, drops deer on the spot a long ways out.

I also have the dog in the cabinet, a 303 brit, as much as I dislike that gun.......it drops deer, even when it shouldn't

Hard to go wrong with Remington guns TR. I have  a lot of them myself.
I have the 700 in .270 as well  Doober, and my brother has the Savage in 30-06. Have taken deer with both, the Savage shoots very well but like the .270 a little better as far as ruining meat. A 180gr 30-06 does a number on a shoulder. They don't go anywhere though.

My favorites are Brownings. I 've owned Mossburg and Remington but now all I have are Brownings. My 2 favorites are:

#1. Browning A Bolt Medallian Series 270 shooting 130 Grain Boattail  - shoots flat and plenty of knock down power for most deer
#2. Browning A Bolt Synthetic Stock, Stainless Steel w/Boss 7MM Short Rim Mag with a Nikon Scope - nice gun overall

up here in n. maine we have huge clearcuts. some thousands of yards long. i have a rem. 700 in 7mm mag that fits the bill. killed a doz. deer and a moose with it. none went more than 40 yrds.before folding up. and believe it or not i havent lost much meat either. it does put a hole in them but make a heart/ lung shot everytime you dont have to worry about ruining meat. longest shot was 364 yrds. on a 6pt. even with a 5-10mph wind i still took him through both lungs resting on a stump. some consider this caliber overkill but for up here i think it really excells. recoils about the same as a 30'06 and in lighter grain loads is extremely flat shooting. for short range thick woods i have to agree the 30-30 is hard to beat for ease of use and effectiveness. killed my second deer w/ my uncles 30-30.

7mm is a good choice for those types of shots, as is a 300 mag.  Congrats of some fine shooting.

Model 7 MS .257 Roberts from Remington's Custom Shop w/3-9X40 Nikon Monarch  BDC's weren't out then or that's what would be on it. Maybe after I get my wife's new rifle I'll get a BDC for it.

Model CZ 600 .270 Win. W/21/2-10 BDC Nikon Monarch Gold 30 mm

Thompson Center G2 .45  W/ 11/2-6 X 42 Nikon Monarch Gold 30mm

Just ordered the new Savage Lady Hunter in 6.5 Creedmoor for my wife. That will have a BDC on it also.

Remington Model 700 all the way.
Tweaked so the trigger squeeze is very slight. Equipped with a Bushnell 9 power scope. About as accurate as can be.
With the right shooter, you could practically drive nails with it at 75 yards
If it's brown, it's down
