the law on reporting deer has changed upstate they now give the hunter 1 week to report a kill. i like this change because i have no phone service at my camp

    This was changed to give hunters out of phone range/camping a chance to get home to call it in....

This dicussion reminds me a lot of gun control.  Criminals will always find ways to circumvent the system.  whether you have 48 hours or two weeks to check your deer the poachers are still going to poach. This is the exact reason gun control does not work.  The bad guys don't follow laws........  Just saying

That's interesting Eyehi, In Maine if staying in an unorganized township ( no local govt basically ) you have a week to present it to the check station or if you leave the township you must bring it to be checked. So you couldn't make a beer run to town and have an un sealed deer hanging at camp.

how long does it take to travel from an unorganized township to a check station. lets say u shoot 1 at camp how far do u travel to check in the deer???

Could be 15 min or 2 hours depending where camp was. Place I used to hunt out of was 45 min to town.
