Yeah...I'm about 25 miles from the trail head....spent my youth at camp on the base of it...in Opelesent hunting club....Tahaws....Good view of it from the top of Gore Mountain.... ;D ;D ;D

Nice, I have a picture of Algonquin...and a few others along the trail...the Artic Alpine plant zone and the monument plaque at the top of Marcy...not sure where all the other pics are...

Wife's sister and her husband were/are(he is still there after she passed away) the caretakers for The Tahawas club...where Teddy Roosevelt...stayed and climbed Marcy...plus hunted...they have a target framed from him shooting in a turkey shoot....wouldn't have wanted him to shoot at me from 100 yards....off hand and with a 30 caliber in a 4inch circle....5 shots...a lot of history here....train station where he was summoned to return to Washington as McKinley was shot....he got a telegram there that McKinley had died...and he was now president....
He was at Marcy area on vacation....Would have loved to see the road there that they brought him down out of on a wagon....in the middle of the night...had to be an experience all in itself...

MASSENA, N.Y. -
Search and rescue teams are looking for a missing snowmobiler who is believed to have drowned on the Grasse River near Massena.

The unidentified man was last seen Monday afternoon when he left the Amvets boat launch on the Massena Center Road to go ice fishing. Family members notified authorities when he failed to return home Monday night.

Officials say that divers, using underwater cameras and sonar equipment, were able to recover a glove and a cell phone.  Ice in the area is about four inches deep and officials are warning snowmobilers and others to stay off the ice.

Sad....People need to change their expectations of winter in NY....our weather pattern is not what it used to be....winter sports are but fleeting periods when you can do them....I don't even walk on 4" of ice.... :( :(

Friend of mine just ment that guy and fished with him saturday..... My buddy brad works with the victims brother...... I told my friend saturday i was not fishing that area as the grass river has current thats why the walleyes are there...... Walking on four inches is one thing driving is insane .....
