That's what's left of a screw head. I got a cap and rotor off ebay motors (half napas cost for cheapest). I didn't realise the mounting screws they supplied were a different thread than the originals, not unil I had one bound up. after the torx stripped out I had to cut slots to get a slotted screwdriver in it. Of course it was down between the cap and intake so it was a real pita to make slots in. There were at least three slots I went through before I got it out.

You've got that right, buts it's nice to know you have the ability to over come the obstacle. If it always went like it should anyone could do it.

Even better, the new cap and rotor did the trick, she's running much better now  . Just did a dumpster run up the highway and saw a big improvement. Now I'm heading out to run the snowmobile before it starts pouring.

Hate to admit it but I can't even tell you how old it was. They didn't have one in stock when I did everything else and I forgot about it  . It was so bad I thought the timing was way off.

Another sea foam success story today. I gassed up the lawn mower while working on the garage and it wouldn't run more than a second or two. Mixed some sea foam into the tank and after a dozen starts it kept running, but only if the throttle was slow. I slowly increased the throttle periodicly while working on other stuff and within twenty minutes it was running so good I had a hard time shutting it off  . I will start mixing it into all my gas cans, along with stabil marine.

had a DR trimmer given to me does the same thing start quit start quit ; Going to pull carb. apart but try your approach with the sea foam first

Give it a try, it worked on my little two stroke tiller too that was doing the same thing. On the tiller I put fresh gas with sea foam in, pulled over enough times to get the new gas in the carb and it sat for a week. When I tried to start it a week later it fired right up.

I thought for sure both carbs needed to be rebuilt, but they seem fine now.
