There's always something that comes up when getting the boat ready for launch; cleaned the excess grease off the kicker motor and found out why it's there, the bushings are shot. Never easy ordering Mercury parts  but I have them coming for Friday morning so I can launch that afternoon, timing will be tight. Gonna break it down this afternoon, need to built something to support the engine while I unattach it from the swivel to pull the shaft out, only a few bolts; replacing the lower motor mounts while I'm at it, they look well worn. This should make the autopilot work less and explains some problems I was having. 

Need to add new zincs on the prop shaft and outboard, wax the hull and get the inboard ready: hoses, belts, water pump, etc.

Set up a stand and had it apart with the motor hanging in about 45 min. Pulled out the shaft and of course it's worn and needs to be replaced, after the special parts order has been placed. Got lucky, this is a more universal part and I found a place in NY that can ship regular UPS tomorrow so I have it Friday, good prices, too.

I have that same power tilt on my motor. Added it since it didnt have one when I bought the boat.

You're making me glad we use drift socks instead of a kicker. That's a lot of work, but it'll be half new by the time you're done. That kicker must have some serious hours on it.

BOAT.....AKA.....break out another thousand.....Why I sold mine last year.....Would like to get a 14' v bottom with a small outboard.....just for trolling early or late on a couple lakes....

Not really that much work, biggest pain was cleaning up all the grease, latex gloves really helped. I figure about a half hour to bolt it back together. One of those projects that is much easier than you think at first.

   That will work......

Part of the A-frame to hold the tarp up over the winter was just the right height, and the ratchet strap to lift it a couple inches.

I finally got a brilliant idea on the corroded connector issue last weekend. Spray them down with PB Blaster wait a few minutes and rinse it off with carb cleaner. Worked better than baking soda and water. Worked real well on some nasty connectors.

It must be Mr. Fix-It day.  I just got done replacing the kitchen faucet.  Backflushing it made no difference in pressure, but switching to a faucet that is probably 20 years younger did

Do you use autopilot with that kicker JJ? Rob's boat has it and it's a lifesaver. Couldn't believe it first time I saw the thing.
