never heard that one. I can't see what the frost will do, if there are worms in them the body temp will protect them

I will be out Thursday morning at the crack of dawn.
I love hunting squirrels!!!
Tons of fun...

As previously discussed it's how most of us learned to hunt.
I actually shot 30 rounds through my .22 today getting ready.
Still not up to par, but I'm getting there.
More practice tomorrow after work, if the monsoon doesn't hit first...

J that's for rabbits.  They can carry a disease called tularemia that usually appears as white spots on the liver.  It is recommended to wait until the first heavy frost or snow before taking them as the cold weather makes the bacteria dormant.  They also recommend wearing gloves when cleaning and thoroughly cooking the meat.
Their comin' right for us!

Anyone else having a problem with Fleas all over there squirrels. All the squirrels I've shot so far have been covered in fleas when I go to get them after they fall out of the tree. :P

I shot a squirrel the other day out of a tree using #9 birdshot loads out of my .357.  That was cool. Only problem is you need to be closer than with a .410 or a 12 gauge full of bird shot.

In the deer woods the squirrels pi$$ me right off.
It seems that they know which species I'm targeting...

While I was scouting I carried the .22 just in case I saw some. Nada...
Now I see them every day!

I was out yesterday. What a day!
I saw some squirrels (red and gray), but mostly I was just taking the .22 for a walk in the woods. A hunter in an adjacent field was after bunnies and kicked up a red fox which ran 20 yds in front of me. He's lucky he didn't stop... I would have been making a trip to the pelt shack!
