Bear Trapping
« on: Sep 05, 2015, 01:24:18 PM »
I posted this in the Maine forum, but though I might get some results here to.

Hey guys, just got my trapping license this spring and am going to try trapping for bear with my 10 year old son for the first time here in York County (Maine). Not looking for any spots, but would welcome any tips, especially about trap prep. We are using two ADAX 12 bear throwers with spring loaded snares. Anyone do any prep to the snare itself? I'm wondering if the bear will smell the cable & spring but am worried about boiling and rusting out the snare. Been hanging them in the barn, but there is a fair amount of factory residue on the snare still. Any help would be appreciated!
