Restoration In Progress, Winchester 94
« on: Aug 28, 2004, 02:50:32 PM »
Thought you might to see a restoration as it makes it's way through the system.

This is an old Winchester 94 in 30 W.C.F. that was left in a flooded basement. It will be a complete restoration to factory finish. Someone took sandpaper to the receiver to remove a layer of rust, the stocks are cracked and water damaged. I'm gonna try to remember to take pics as I proceed to give you an idea of what's done to a gun to bring it back to life. I think it will turn out nice ;D

I start polishing on Monday

Well,
After a few days of polishing, removing rust pits and damage from years of use, here's where we're at.

All ready for the bluing tanks.

We'll be lighting the tanks in a couple of weeks. I'll try to get some pics of the "mad scientist" at work.  Stocks are next.

I bet RG!  I restored one of my fathers old rifles for him for Christmas last year.  I don't have all the equipment and tools available to professionals but for doing it in my basement in spare time it came out pretty darn nice!  I hated to give it back but once I saw his face :o when I did it wasn't as hard.
