2013 Harvest thread (pics & stories)
« on: Oct 16, 2013, 03:20:37 PM »
Doesn't seem we have many Montanan's here this year(maybe a bit too early?), but thought I'd start this thread to see some pics and hear some stories!

hunterdan1, upload your pics to photobucket then copy their img code and paste on here!

Haven't made it out much but did manage to kill a doe antelope opening weekend of archery, a coyote and a spike bull elk last week.  I must say calling coyotes and hunting them with a bow is even more exciting than with a rifle, especially when they're at point blank range!
Here's some pics (sorry for the bloody elk pic)...

Coyote...

Doe Antelope...

She was only a yearling doe.  I didn't realize this until I shot her as she came into a buck decoy and I figured it was a young buck.  She's tender and tastey though...

Got out with the wife today, she spotted some does with a young forked horn hanging around, our rule is whoever sees it gets to shoot it. Well he sees us and starts bouncing up the hill, we follow a bit before she can get sights on him with a convenient tree rest he was bout 80 yards, I said shoot him in the neck, and down he goes! We're both jacked and head up to him. We start dragging  down the hill when wife says, "there's a buck!" She stays on the drag and I run over to the tree line and see what I can see, what do you know three does and a 5x5 staring right at me, put it on his giant swelled up neck and down he goes! Nicest buck I've ever killed, and hands down the smelliest son of a gun on the mountain!!
Here's some pics for ya:D
