Lets do it again ladies and gents! Get yer doe apps in by the 16th. All online this year. Any1 else in zone 12....GL to us, a tough one to get again this year!

Wow...even more painfullllll then first thought...... No option to try for another permit til they open to over the counter sales..where it's a lottery again. This suxxxxxxx..... Guys could get a winning permit every day until they are all sold out while others will have none!

I have a similar thing here. If you get a tag you can keep filling it and get it reissued, but I got denied the past two years ::). I feel for you, hope you get at least one.

Just checked mass fish and wildlife's site and as usual they didn't say anything about the dates for the second chance at the surplus. I didn't get drawn this year so I'm chomping at the bit to try to get a surplus tag. Any word on what they are doing?

I talked to a live person and was told lottery........... another forum has an alleged cut n paste that says surplus will be first come...so not sure.

October, the surplus permits will be available on a first come first serve basis. Date is TBA by F&W . Internet sales and available at the dist office.

I think you can do it right from the comfort of the house online and skip the wait Buddy. If I hear different I'll pass it on. I don't think that 2 on the first day thing will work with the new system. If we do have to wait in line I'll bring the coffee and wait with ya. ;)

Ok I have it on good authority the the Surplus permits Go on sale the 9th of October. Internet only. There will be no waiting in line like we have done in the past. They expect them to go quick.
Also we are a signature away from having a fall turkey season for this year to run the same as the western half of the state. Should be press releases as soon as it is signed.

ANTLERLESS DEER PERMIT SALES BEGIN OCTOBER 9
Surplus antlerless deer permits for Wildlife Management Zones (WMZ) 10 (6,161 permits); 11(3,307 permits), 13(2,589 permits), and 14 (2,627 permits) will be available for online sale and at any license vendor locations beginning Tuesday, October 9, 2012at 8:00 A.M. There are no permits available in other WMZs.
NEW THIS YEAR: Hunters who do not have a computer may purchase antlerless deer permits at any walk-in license agent location (not just MassWildlife offices) or they can use any computer, such as at a public library. For walk-locations, hunters should check license agent hours of operation prior to October 9th when permit sales begin. A listing of license agent locations and phone numbers is availableatwww.mass.gov/dfwele/dfw/recreation/licensing/vendors/license_vendors_googlemap.htm
To avoid long lines at MassWildlife offices, deer hunters are encouraged to purchase surplus antlerless deer permits online from a home, work, or other public computer at www.mass.gov/massfishhunt, or ask a friend or family member to purchase permits online for them. Anyone purchasing surplus antlerless deer permits MUST have the last name and Customer ID # of all hunters for whom they are purchasing permits. Surplus antlerless deer permits will be issued on a first-come/first-served basis. Should have no problem for zone 10. Our office in Bourne has parking for about 10 cars so that can be a problem for the guy's down here.

Left the bride in charge......She was not happy with me. Same issue that Deerme had but she did get one for all 6 of us. Zone 11 took about 2 hours to finally pull it off.

i was able to get in and get one for me and a buddy for zone 10 earlier this morning. i'll get one more tomorrow. 2 buck and 3 doe tags should be enough (for MA) this season :P

Glad I put in for an 11 in the lottery cause they were gone by the time I finally got to buy em. I got a 10 and 11 now. Hopefully another 10 tomorrow but heard they sold out already though.
I'm confused , in NY we put in for a lottery when we buy our license for the year .... how does it work for you ?

OHHHHH , I remember Bog telling me about that .... he said somethiong about buying one online and one in person .... or something ... we traded alot of bs that morning drinking coffee and watching Hunt-n-Cheeks , the early years ;D I wish they gave out surplus tags in NY ... they started doing something where they mail them out ?? It sucks that 3 of my hunting party did not get selected for a doe tag for the area we are hunting SZ opener , so if they fill a buck tag in the NZ they can't hunt in the SZ unless I sign my doe tag to them >:(

I read on another site that the guys who went to the over the counter places had to wait just as long - actually longer - than those who did it at home. Apparently the over the counter sellers were using the same online system as we were, so they were experiencing the same delays as us.
There were 6000+ zone 10 tags so they should be available for a few more days I would think? My dad just bought one so they're definitely not sold out just yet. Not sure on the other zones though!

The licensing and permits are being done by a private company now so all Permits went the same way. Even if you go to Wal-mart, a F&W office or at home it's all the same, they are just doing it for you.
So yes Mookie, we have the lottery. The zones that have more available than applied for have the surplus permit's sold first come first serve. It's a poor system IMO. I agree that Once you fill a doe tag you could then get another instead of the Mad dash that we have now.

I checked at 1201 am, the 11's were gone but still 10,13&14 left. You can get 4 a day of the island tags if you want to take a boat ride. ::)

just bought two more zone 10 tags in a matter of seconds. what a difference from yesterday!!!!!!! can't wait for next week!!!

After sitting at my computer from 8-9 am yesterday I managed to get a zone 10 and 11. Took me about 40 tries to get it to go through. I even called up the company that was in charge of the system and gave up after being on hold for 30 minutes. I also went down to one of the field headquarters and there was 3 guys waiting in line. One guy had been there since 8 am and it was pushing 930 at that time with no luck. Seems like someone really dropped the ball on this system.

On Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 8:00am, 929 Zone 11 surplus antlerless permits will be available to purchase by home computer or at any license vendor on the MassFishHunt system on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Please Note: Zone 11 surplus antlerless deer permits will only be available for purchase by hunters who don’t already have a Zone 11 surplus antlerless deer permit. Anyone with a Zone 11 Surplus Antlerless Deer permit will be unable to purchase a second Zone 11 permit.
Background:
On Tuesday, October 9, 2012, deer hunters attempting to purchase surplus antlerless deer permits experienced major difficulties with the MassFishHunt electronic system preventing a number of them from completing their transaction. Late in the morning, data provided by Active Outdoors, the private contractor responsible for the MassFishHunt system, indicated that the allocation of Zone 11 surplus permits sold out and sales for Zone 11 were closed. Subsequently, it was determined that over 900 Zone 11 surplus permits remained unsold. Zones 10, 13, and 14 surplus sales continued and by the afternoon the electronic system was functioning normally and completing permit sales.
Active Outdoors, the system vendor, takes responsibility for the system failure and apologizes to hunters, license vendors, and the Division of Fisheries and Wildlife.

I wish there was no such thing as a unit M tag, I actually pray for bad winters so we never have a " L " tag. I truly feel sorry for you guys................ At least make it no unit M tag unless you live in unit M. I will be livid if we ever see those tags in L.

Super Lame....WHAT ABOUT LAST YEAR? I was awarded an 11 and granted it was my second zone 11...but I was told there was a problem with about 20% of transactions. I was awarded the permit ........but it never came....i mailed and found out I and 20% others got skrewed. Lets get this right next year!

ya know guys , why would you want more than 2 doe permits. that makes 4 deer you can shoot. save some for someone else that may not have any. chances are you won't use em anyways.

Really? I have a house full of starving son's here ::) ::).......Anyone that wanted a permit could apply for one and was guaranteed to get it during the lottery drawing.......I think I hunt more than the average working man ........Maybe a little more anyway. I like to shoot buttonbucks and It takes more of them to fill the freezer so I need as many tag's as I can get..... ::) ::)
