They hit hard like a bat....aluminum bat that is. My Arizona EZ fletch is the aluminum model and can't be used with carbon arrows. Next year I plan on getting a dozen Beman ICS arrows and a new fletching jig. Till then they still do the job and take deer every year.

I just switched 2 days ago to carbon arrows. I had to get a new sight for my bow so I decided that I might as well change over arrows as well. I went from easton xx75 2117 aluminums to beman 340 carbon arrows. saw a noticable speed difference. the carbons are faster then my aluminums were.

I used my old aluminum shafts to make some really nice high tech tip downs for ice fishing. I just switched to carbon arrows this year when I bought my Mathews Reezen.

Would love to see a picture of your tipdowns.

If not you should be, I don't care how good you think you are you can only get better if you accept modern innovations. I assume all you use is a ball and patch blackpowder too.  Upgrades are made for a reason to help you increase your odds and accuracy

There are other reasons than accuracy for using traditional equipment. I've been looking for a flintlock to hunt with (and leave my inline home), some people like the nostalgia of old bows and guns. I think we should all just hunt our own way so long as it's legal.

Funny, there are a lot of Olympic shooters who still use Easton Aluminum arrows. As they work better than carbon from a finger shot bow as they stabilize quicker. If you haven't shot an aluminum in a while since you bought your new high tech bow, try one. Not a cheap old gamegetter 2117(not that they won't still kill lots of deer effectively) But a high strength X7 Eclipse or equivalent....You might be surprised how well they shoot....

One of my friends uses Aluminum because the bow instructors scared him with stories of ingesting a piece of carbon fiber and dying.
