Gun of choice?

I am just wondering what cal. of gun people perfer and why do you like that cal. of gun for hunting my dad has a old 30-30 that is tiny I am not a small guy by all means but the thing feels like a B.B. gun to me I love it.

270 i used to use a 30-30 but my son needed a gun so now he has it.The 270 is a good allaround gun.

30 -30 Marlin, 4 powered fixed scope with over and under sites. I've hunted fro 30 years and couldn't imagine stepping into the woods without the old girl. She is considered my good luck charm. Out of the 30 years of hunting, I've had 21 unforgettable success stories, if you know what I mean.

I've had it since 1990 and love it for its durability, knockdown power, and long range shooting capabilities. 

Lots of open country out West so you have to be prepared to shoot in excess of 300 yards if need be.

Although my goal is to always get as close as possible and I seldom shoot over 200.
