Gee you should come our way, there have been so many bear sightings, you'd think this area was a bear farm!  ::)

Thanks everyone, I appreciate it, something I won't soon forget. 8)

Skinned her out and the hide with head and feet are in the freezer, probably doing another rug, the fur is awesome. I butchered it up myself, mostly cut into chunks to make some bear sausage. Just took a couple small roasts from the backstraps; also ate the tenderloins, baked them with curry, mmm. ;) I saw why my arrow stopped at the far ribs, right through the shoulder blade and into the vitals. I will definitely wait for a broadside shot on a larger bear if I get a chance; definitely with a recurve on anything.

Here's the front quarter, you can see the triangle shape of the shoulder blade:

Here's a stillhunting action shot I took with the cell phone last week:

Fanny pack, hip quiver w/ fletching cover, knee pads and small binos and I am very mobile and stealthy. ;)

Just got an email about the 2012 NYS Black Bear Harvest Report, there were a lot of bears around up North last Fall, the Adirondack harvest more than doubled over 2011.

The Adk total was 606 bears, 39 by bowhunters; my county had 62 taken, 1 with a bow.

Lots of info in the report: http://www.dec.ny.gov/docs/wildlife_pdf/bb12summary.pdf
