Beautiful morning to be out! The snow melted as it got towards noon, we quit then because the plan is to hunt the next 4 days and at 8 & 6 years old it doesn't make sense to tire the girls out on day one. These dogs are in their prime and are just a joy to hunt with!

Laying out the gear the night before...

Beautiful place to hunt...

We got a nice surprise though- they brush-hogged some paths- the last time we hunted this spot I came out looking like I lost a fight with a bobcat!

Taking a minute to clean a rabbit before the next run...

Saw deer, hawks, TONS of geese both Canada's & Snows, and of course some rabbits, 5 of which got invited to the neighborhood game dinner next month. Last time here we took a limit of 18, I think the brush hogging opened up the hunting for the hawks & owls too.

There isn't a sweeter sound than a couple of beagles on a hot rabbit trail.  When I was 17 I had a pair of trial dogs what a blast.  Nice pictures. and our area was an old scrub apple orchard and they kept it bush hogged between the rows of trees so the officials could see the dogs work. that has to be an advantage in that area you were hunting in the pics. Nice looking hounds also.
