moose in new york

There were about 18 of them in the Lake Desolation area a few years ago. Last year at rut time another bull was darted by DEC down around cohoes or waterford and brought up there, and let go. You were to go up there now you would see tracks all over the place. Last year while snowshoe hunting I saw a cow. she just stood in the hemlocks and let me walk right by. There has been a population of moose up there for many years. I lived in Middle Grove for 20 years had them right in the back yard a few times. That is a nice bull in the picture.  TC

Just saw my first NY moose Friday morning.

Unfortunately, it had been hit on the northway just past exit 23. I saw it laying in the median.

I definitely don;t think too highly of myself to eat roadkill. I have before, probably will again.

there deff around had 1 in my back yard in august...not that big though
