See there is a misconception these days about the "dacks" hunting....we do put a dent in the population. The deer are migrating towards the more urban areas.....small wood lots and even like this morning, I watched a nice 6 pointer feeding under an apple tree on the side of main street....100 yards from the school....
People are taking up the bows and shooting these deer....
Finch property does have some deer..if they are still logging it....but they have a no doe policy so the clubs have dwindled to take advantage of NYS game laws.....The clubs are hurting for members....most of which now are not hunters.....
Just got an email from NYS DEC on a hunter shot in Malone area. Man shot his brother....Didn't see him because of the foliage,
and was shooting at deer, missed and got his brother.....So opening a season to all implements is not fee-sable....Still hat having muzzle loader during bow.....to many guys still bow hunting, walking around in camo....
NYS will never have a deer population like we see in states that market hunting. Antler restrictions only work where people sit on feeders and pick the "right" deer to shoot. HUH!!! They seem to have made strides in antler growth, and revenue from people wanting to hunt there...(and pay handsome prices to do so)...No scares of CWD.....No issues as to low deer densities....And they get to have crews filming TV shows to promote their success.....Watched any good hunting shows from NYS lately???
