Have used a fawn and doe bleat very effectively, and have had bucks in bachelor groups come in grunting softly. Never got a shot on them, but did have them answer my grunt....so yes deer are vocal.....
A fawn in distress will sometimes bring a doe running in.....as well as a coyote.... ;)

I seldom use calls, rattling, scents or any of those gimmicks. While they do draw in deer they typically come in on high alert making it extremely difficult to get a shot off without being detected.  I prefer to have them approach slowly and naturally and have better success when I leave the "toys" at home.  That's just my opinion.  I know a lot of hunters like to use calls etc.  Good luck to everyone this weekend.

I would hate to be in a tree without my grunt call. Never had any luck with bleat calls or rattling. I bet i called in at least 10 bucks last season to within bow range with my grunt tube. Ended up using a snort wheeze to turn the 8 pt I harvested last season after he ignored my grunt tube. Came in on a string at under 10 yds after walking straight away.

Ya that grunt tube will bring them in for sure deer are social animals.
I have hunted fields where the bucks grunt once before they go out in the field.
I think it like them saying hey what's up guys.

Grunt call = hey a$$ hole or hey baby whats up.
I know I always come see who said that to me.
I guess it's a good thing I'm not a deer.
