Not sure what we're doing tomorrow yet, if the wind forecast improves we'll be walleye fishing. Started getting the boat put together and the forecast changed for the worse. Wind speed and more so direction aren't appealing, though it would be good for the fishing but would be scary in the little boat.

Wow, 20 ticks on you, how many of you were there? That's a lot of ticks on someone even it is 20 people w/1 tick each. I'm glad I haven't seen any around here.

You should have stayed out 1 more day, what a day it was. the flies were hatching, fish were feeding, it was a nice warm day.

I would have liked to but the school frowns on us taking a day off right after a vacation week.

I hit some small southern Adirondack streams this afternoon. Black flies definitely getting thicker.  I only caught 3 fish.

good job on a personal best, if we were closer to my camp Id have you come up and we could go after some good sized ones, hooked one right in the beak one day that was over 20" and I couldnt get my hand around, ended up popping off, I cried... but then I caught a hen that was at least 16" normally I only keep males but I was frustrated having lost the biggest brookie of my life... I want to take the row boat out with the electric motor and troll wobblers like in canada for a 4lber never get a chance to do it

I hiked into Glasgow pond (1.4 miles one way) in the Southern Adirondacks this afternoon after work.  I tried fishing the creek and the pond. Although I saw fish, I did not catch any.  :P

The trail in is an old tote road up to the pond. It was really washed out.

Its neat, on the way near the pond, is some old foundations of houses from over 120 years ago.

Someone has recently been metal detecting and digging around the foundations
(http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y62/adkRoy/adkRoy/open%20water%202012/PICT0278.jpg)

This is why I hate people, they leave crap like this way back in
(http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y62/adkRoy/adkRoy/open%20water%202012/PICT0279.jpg)

Many views of Glasgow pond. I did see fish but they just were not biting.

I found where some animal, either skunk or raccoon, found some turtle eggs, dug them up and ate them.

Here is the old foundation of the old mill that use to make broomsticks if I remember my history right.

It looked like perch. I know some of old timers talk about going there to catch bullheads. It was only my second trip in there and the first time I took the fishing pole with me.

You have to ask my brother-in -law how cute a loon is...years ago he got the, you know what, slapped out of him by a loon. The loon had picked up one of my suckers and got the hook in its bill. He got it in the boat and got the hook out but the next day he looked like he has done 10 rounnds with Mr. Ali......hunts2long

Issiah and I saw a guy in a little 12' Lund catch a comorant last weekend on a spinnerbait in Buffalo.  Took him forever to get it off the hook.

I'd have used a club in that situation. 8)

Looking forward to gettiing to enjoy a week in the ADK's in a few weeks.  Headin up Old Forge way in a few weeks and planning on getting in a full week of fishing.  Does anyone know of a good bait shop that would be on my way if I am coming up Rt. 12 from Utica?  I would like to stop on the way so ideally it would be close to Route 12. Thanks in advance.

Lots of places selling worms and night crawlers along the way and in old forge. Or are you looking for minnows?

Well, no one has added onto this thread for a while so here:

It's Jessup river time!  Took a little canoe trip up the river for some trout. The river was down about 2-3 feet. No trout were caught but we did have a fawn jump in the river, chase our canoe, jump back out of the river, run around us, jump back into the river and swim down stream in front of the canoe for about a half mile. Lots of deer and bear tracks in the mud and sand along the river banks.

Self portrait!

The river was really low:

I tried to get a picture of the deer swimming in front of us but he was about 100 yards down stream from us.

Sure is!!!!

People thought we had so much rain in April and May.....Good thing!!  With no real snow pack to feed the ground, our tables are way down.....Something to keep watch of as August gets here....A lot of deer food may not produce as hoped....might have to adjust stand locations........or find a way to water your plots.....
A lot of trout in that area are sure to perish as well AR......

We spent most of the weekend up in the Adirondacks in the White Lake to Inlet area.  During our travels we seen three different sets of momma turkeys with very little polts.  they couldn't have been the size of a softball.  There must have been quite a few late hatchings in the area.

same at camp in the mexico area...small tiny poults with small size clutches.......but I have seen some full sized poults as well....so we have both size clutches in the area.

Hiked into 2 ponds in the southern adirondacks today. Tried fishing both. Over all an 8 mile round trip. No fish were caught.  :P

Over all a great hike.

Hiked in to Jockeybush Lake in the Adirondacks this morning before the big rains to do a little fishing.  Sally Beagle came with me to keepme company.

These are Emerald Ash Borer traps the state put up to monitor the spread of this invasive bug.

It says 1.1 miles to the lake but that is to the outlet. You need to walk another .25 to get to deeper swimmable, fishable water.

When we got to the outlet of the lake, sally wanted to get a drink but ended up getting stuck in the mud:

I recommend crossing over the old beaver dam at the outlet and staying on the north side. nice fisherman's path that leads to a campsite and some rock out crops and deeper water.

No. I need to carry a canoe or kayak back there to get into the real deep water where the trout are.  The water in that little lake was very warm. lots of big bullfrogs around it though.

We have two, that's all that will fit on top of the car.  We usually get the other one or two that we need for the kids from Tickners.  I remember renting aluminum canoes from them with my father back in the late 70's early 80's to take down the Moose!
