We can shoot one and Trap one in Maine and they are still everywhere!
-
I have had the chance to shoot a couple over the years but never pulled the trigger.
Even though I could mount one myself or make a rug just never did.
I have two friends and at least one of them gets one almost every year or so if I want some meat it’s there. Not one of my favorite flavors.,

I understand I’m in the minority, but I prefer Bear over Venison.
It also matters what that animals habitat was
-
Hunting them though, not my thing, I’m a whitetail guy through and through. If I see one now I’ll shoot it if it’s serviceable just bc I love the tablefare but I don’t really hunt them anymore. I just want to deer hunt with my bow

I'm with you. I actually am not a big fan of venison at all. I would prefer chicken. But good bear steaks... mmmmm. Even the little ones taste good.

Yeah, I mean, you put one to sleep on a mountain side that’s fed off nuts and berries it’s whole life it’ll be phenomenal. Shoot one in town by the dump and, congrats, you got chops that taste like a baby’s diaper I assume :o

Ate some of the best bear last year 120 lber and had roast corned wow almost better than beef . If you guys think you have bear problems come to Lyme we have a wildlife rehabilitator in town that rescues around 70 Cubs a year and dumps them off. Only place I know that has a bruin stock truck
-
Lollll! Stock truck! That’s funny as hell! Suck though :-\
-
Dirt is that because the sow was shot or killed some other way? That’s a lot of orphaned cubs..
-
Lyme disease!! :o :o

Lots of reasons he gets Cubs mostly roadkill. The guy is actually pretty cool look him up Ben Kilham. He's wrote a couple of books and done stuff with national geographic learned a ton on bear behavior. All in all neat but comes a point that there's to many. Before he was really recognized for what he did it would be nothing to see a bear riding around in the front seat of his pickup. They actually captured this nuisance Bear from Hanover named mink, he took Cubs and relocated her to Pittsburgh with tracking collar and friggin bear all but made it back but got stroked by a car. Wild thing found its way back without map quest
-
I’m pretty sure I heard the story about mink somewhere.
Looked Ben up and that’s pretty interesting..
Wish I had a ton of nuts to bring him this fall… ;D

I saw my first bear dead on the side of the road when I went up to NY for the 4th near my parents house. Been getting more pictures of them on trail camera too.

Next door neighbor told me yesterday that a bear waked by her window one night last week when she was up for a few days. Probably the same bear that DEC was trying to scare away from a nearby resort, it kept getting in the dumpster. Should be some around this Fall, especially since the gypsy moths caterpillars hit the oaks pretty hard. Not expecting many acorns and the bears will be wandering more.
