Partridge in Pittsburg
« on: Oct 10, 2016, 09:22:38 PM »
Just got back from 4 days of tridge huntin up in the Burg. Its always great to get up there, but this year was THE toughest we've ever had for birds and rabbits in years. Its such an awesome area for huntin, I've never had a problem limiting out every day.
What a different story this year. 12 hrs/day for 4 days = 9 birds, 1 snowshoe. (Should be 32 and 9)
Just curious if anybody else has been up yet and what the story is? Im thinking its the warm weather thats screwin things up and the fact that they havent had a hard frost yet.
Oh well, back to the bow.....

I was always told of (and noticed) 10 year cycles with both; it seems to differ by location. The last couple years have been waning in the northwoods but really busy in the Whites and Ossipee Mountains. Not as great there for road guys, but for a dog-less mountain hiker like myself it is perfect, and the closer proximity to home is a welcome change.

I have also heard of the cycles too. Just didnt know how much truth there was to it..
Either way, a bad day hunting is always better than a good day at work.
