Just a FYI, got invited to join in for black bear hunting this fall over bait. Friend of mine has 2 bait sites in the white mtn national forest. We went up yesterday to hang stands and put out barrels, baiting will start Sept 1st, we will hunt the week of the 15th. Wish me luck.

I wish you success in your hunt, I want to see some pics. Did you put out trail cams?

Trail cams are out even though no bait yet, will check em on the first when we bait and give a full report. We will give it 5 days and go back on Sat the 6th to check bait and hunt that eve.

Update, no hunting yet and no activity on our 2 sites, our hunting partners have had 2 sites hit by mom and cubs..not a good thing for them. We will be heading up next week to hunt, our bait sites are full of Chow and with the colder weather, hopefully the activity will increase.

No activity at either of my sites last week either.... Guide down the road reported a significant reduction in activity as well. It's all very strange.

New guy here. I have not had a hit on my bait yet either. I did go out on Tue afternoon to check my camera (nothing) . what I did notice, is that the acorns are dropping by the bucket load. It sounded like it was raining . so my opinion is bears are eating up all the nuts and really don't have to move far because there are so many hitting the ground. I also am still seeing blueberries . not a lot of them but they are still there. Lots of natural food sources for bears this year. Last year I shot my 330(dressed) on the 13th. This year just hope to have one on camera by the 13th.
Good luck out there guys!
