Well this was the first year I hunted with a muzzle loader. I bought a CVA optima and absolutly love it.
Any ways after many hours in the stand without seeing a whole lot i went out the last mourning of the muzzle season
I had a decent little 4x4 come in but never had a chance to shoot. I decided saying it was the last day I would head back out for the evening hunt. once in my stand i decided to do some calling with a doe bleat can. To my amazement the buck that I had seen in the mourning had returned and another buck was following him. He was bigger than the first.
I shot and as the smoke cleared I heard him crash and could see some blood. He was probably out to 100 yards or so.
Anyways with my heart pounding I let him have some time (the longest half hour of my life) and came to see him.
I had made a good shot through the neck and he didnt go very far afterwards.
Here he is
He only scored 112 5/8 but is missing both brow tines and had a rough velvet season as his g2 was flat
Hope you enjoyed the story and the pic
Still not my biggest buck but its a decent first muzzle buck.
