30.06  Great all around caliber, flat shooting, hard hitting and easy to reload.
If it can't get done outdoors, it isn't going to get done!

7mm Rem Mag is my main gun that I like for grizzly, elk, moose. My brush/beater gun is a 30-06, not that its a bad gun, but I got it for 100 bucks and its lighter than the 7mm (with the bipod and big scope).

My father in law shoots a Rem. 7600 pump but in .308, it has taken many deer, about a dozen moose, 1 bear, and three caribou, and it was a hand-me-down from his dad, so it could be more then 50 years old.

I see that there is a wide variety of "personal favorites"  Me personally, I have shot a 222 rem. for years and years.  I LOVE IT.  What a great little gun.  Just 2 years ago, I bought a 300 ultra mag.  I needed something for distance because of the hunting area I hunt in.  When I bought the gun, the guy at SIR said he has the same unit and shoots it competitively to 1000yds!!!  Thats what I wanted but havent had much of a chance to shoot any long distances yet.  Talk to one guy last year at the big buck night in brandon and he said he shoots the same thing and shot one at 650 yds.
